Roads & General Transport News

From time to time Sandton Central routes may experience road closures due to construction and other factors such as the Gautrain, Rea Vaya BRT and special events including events at the Sandton Convention Centre and the FIFA World Cup 2010. We will update information on this page regularly in an attempt to avoid as much delay as possible.

Almost two years after Johannesburg's Bus Rapid Transit system was launched, commuters and former taxi drivers who were retrained as drivers of the Rea Vaya buses, believe it is a huge success. Though motorists in the northern suburbs still pass empty stations, which are still under construction, commuters from Soweto to the Johannesburg CBD feel that the buses save them both time and money.

The Dial Direct Pothole Brigade, which launched as a pilot-project in August 2010, today announced its partnership with Lead SA, an initiative that aims to mobilise South Africans to be the change they want to see.
